SEO / BirdLife, is the publisher of a new book on birds in the art. Las Aves en el Museo del Prado (Birds in the Prado Museum) was presented to the media today morning at the Botanical Garden of Madrid. Is a wonderful book written by biologist Joaquín Gómez Cano after a long research process in the museum's collections. My work has been to co-direct the work together with Gerardo Orellana, artist and lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Aranjuez. We also wrote a general introduction to the text.
To get this huge job done, we had the sponsorship of Red Electrica and assistance from the Prado Museum itself that allowed access to the gallery and its computer database.
An important part of the work was to identify one by one the species painted by the different artists, not always an easy thing. All this information is now collected, not only in the book, but in the museum's database.
The book can be purchased through SEO / BirdLife and probably through bookstores in the near future. More information on the SEO’s website
