One of the flagship species of cork oak forests of is the Booted Eagle, one of the many bird species which populations would suffer a decline following the deterioration of this habitat. The cork production is now threatened by the use of plastic stoppers in wine bottles.
We should reject the wine sealed with plastic or metal caps to support the survival of the more environmentally friendly cork industry, the forest and the birds.
